What date do you go by when your landlord writes to give you notice?

If the contract says he must give one months notice in the form of a letter or hand delivered then only one of those methods is the legal way to inform. If he sends a letter and says 60 days from the date of the email and that date is at least 30 days from the date of the letter, that would be a legal 30 day notice.
